Cinco de Maya

Well, it's official.  Maya is now 5 years old.  I no longer have two toddlers, but one toddler and one KID.  Every mother says it, but seriously, where did the last five years go !?!  I can still remember the day that I found out I was pregnant with Maya.  The excitement and fear that life was not going how we expected and was never going to be the same.  The worry that I was going to have to learn to be a new wife and a new mother all at the same time.  It has been a wonderful 5 years and I am a better person because of them.  The good has outweighed all the bad and I am so proud to call myself Maya's Mom.

(Fair warning:  here comes some bragging).  Maya is such a smart little girl and quick as a whip (which tends to get her in a bit of trouble).  She is quite the little leader.  Maya loves to play games, sing, sing, oh, and sing; make up her own songs, play with her dolls and barbies, build forts, color, paint, go to the park with dad, play with Dex and pretend (well not really pretend) to be her sister's second mommy.  It has been so amazing to watch her little personality develop and I am so excited to see how God guide's this little one to do great things.

For Maya's 5th birthday party, we celebrated with the theme Cinco de Maya.  (Come on, you know we had to do it ).  We celebrated with family and had a great time.  Maya's favorite mexican food was served (cheese enchiladas, rice and beans) and she also got a colorful birthday cake as requested.  At the end of the party, after everyone had gone home, Maya told us that, " . . . it was such a magical day."  Score one for Mom and Dad!!

The Decor - made it all myself
(Not to toot my own horn or anything)

Sydney keeping herself busy.

Maya loved her birthday princess tiara.

Enjoying the birthday dinner.

She was told to make a wish

Out of all the gifts she received,
her favorite was a box of princess tissue from the dollar store.

The Pinata!!!

She must have swung at least 30 times at that thing.
Eventually, David needed to hold it while
she took a few good shots.

Finally, busted it open!

We later brought out her last gift, a fishing pole.
She has been asking for a "real" one for awhile now.

Sydney silly girl

Seriously, that child moves so much,
we just can't get a decent shot of her!

  1. And what gorgeous, vibrant color she's brought to all our lives in those short five years! The brilliant colors of her beautiful Rainbow Cake pale in comparison, don't they? The pictures are priceless, Jackie, and so appreciated!
